Mac Jones on the Trading Block?

While allegations circulate that head coach Bill Belichick and defensive coordinator Mac Jones have a tumultuous relationship at best, things aren’t going so well for the New England Patriots right now. When asked if Jones and Bailey Zappe would be competing for the starting quarterback position, Belichick stated that “everyone will have a chance to play” in response to the question. Jones was not named the starting quarterback. This is, of course, very Belichickian, but additional information has come to light.

According to Tom Curran of NBC, Belichick is also “agitated” by the fact that Jones sought assistance with the offense from outside the organization during the previous season. Belichick reportedly wasn’t pleased with how Jones conducted himself on the field, yelling, becoming angry, etc., according to Curran, who reported that Belichick voiced his displeasure with Jones’ behavior. The true violation of protocol in the Patriot Way occurred when Belichick’s offensive was discussed outside the building in search of assistance.

Almost immediately after this news broke, another source stated that “Belichick has shopped Jones to multiple teams,” as stated by Mike Florio. That is as far as the report would go, so it is tough to know how plausible a move is, but the fact that this information is getting out is very significant when considering how tightly the Patriots typically keep their information under wraps.

What a crazy NFL Offseason.
